Applying to the Indigenous Tourism & Biodiversity Award : deadline is Dec 12 !!

Dear friends,

Hope all is well with you and that the perspectives for 2009 are fine
(in spite of this "little" economic crisis...).

As you may know, the Secretariat of the CBD and a leading sustainable
travel portal, Planeta.com (as a follow up to our workshops) are setting
up an award for the best indigenous tourism website. In this first
version, the issue is to list the sites that are most innovative,
functional and that can be used as references
(for evaluation, for
benchmarking, etc).

We are not looking for ideal sites : just for the best that can be done and that is working. The idea is to build on your experience and identify best practices for dissemination. We already have a half dozen applicants, but we want to make the list of candidates a relevant set of global players in this field.

In a meeting between us here in Montreal (officers and partners involved
in the organization of the award), we found your websites (through the
experience we had with you at the workshops) as a very good model and a reference. We would, therefore, encourage you to apply to this first 2008 version of the ITBW Award.

Among the planned benefits for winners and runners up, we will produce a case study for circulation, we will post the winner’s website in a priority position on our websites and we are looking for exposure at an international tourism event in 2009. We will also publicize the full list of applicants, so that all will have some exposure (and, of course, we plan to hold another award in 2009).

Please check at http://planeta.wikispaces.com/itbw for instructions on
the award and the application procedure. I also attach a short brochure
to call attention to it - please feel free to distribute this to other
potential participants.

All the best, look forward to your participation and let us know if we
can assist you in the application process. Warm regards,

Oliver Hillel
